Job Developer: Full Time Contractual                                                                                       Open Since:  8/4/2016

Assist participants in finding employment in the private sector concurrent with their employment objectives. Identify job opportunities for participants and match qualified participants with the employment opportunities. He/She will be responsible for developing relationships with employers, successfully placing participants into these jobs and provide on going retention services and supports to both the employer and the participant. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Functions:
These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the job functions required for this role.

  • Develop specific job opportunities that match OWS clients skills, work experience, related training and interests.

  • Screen and match OWS clients with employment opportunities based on their skills, work experience, hobbies and interests.

  • Maintain relationships with existing employers and establishes relationships with new employers who are willing to hire OWS clients.

  • Pre-plan development activities to ensure the identification of opportunities to meet contractual obligations.

  • Customizes participants’ resumes to fit identified opportunities.

  • Conduct reviews of existing OWS accounts on a regular basis to evaluate employer demand and usage of OWS services to determines how best to improve and/or leverage relationships to meet placement objectives.

  • Identify and/or follow the employment objectives outlined in the strategic service plan that serves both the employers’ hire and CEO’s placement needs.

  • Conduct daily prospecting/cold calls and schedules face-to-face meetings with employers.

  • Achieve weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual placement goals as prescribed and in accordance with OWS contractual obligations.

  • Documents in real time, all participant and employer contact, activities. 

  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities that will be assigned from time to time.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Baseline Skills: 

  • Must be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

  • Must have the ability to review and use labor market research, to analyze data, to prioritize and organize information and tasks and to customize job seekers’ resumes.

  • Must have the ability to effectively match the job seeker's skills with the job requirements.

  • Possess excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills.

  • Skills to be Learned on the Job: 1) Business Development  2) Relationship Building 3) Knowledge of state employer incentives and other incentive programs.

Experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in business development, including account management experience.  

  • Proven success prospecting, building a pipeline, moving opportunities through to close the deal.

  • Successful track record of achieving and exceeding prospecting quotas on a regular basis.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage client relationships.

  • Ability to report to management clearly and in a timely manner. 

  • Other Requirements.

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience.

Negotiable; Based on experience.

Workshop Facilitator:   Hourly Contractual                                                                                            Open Since:  8/4/2016

Location:  Various Sites in Metro Detroit                                                                                            Open Until:  Suitable Candidate is Found

​

Deliver OWS Transition to Success Program Curriculum to an assigned cohort of students every week at a designated school sites throughout the 2016-2017 school year. OWS provides the curriculum for facilitators to teach and training to ensure quality and consistency in delivery. Each workshop will require up to 16 hours of instruction and 2 hours of prep every week, usually during the school day. Facilitators will also be required to attend training meetings, provide feedback about program implementation, and be evaluated by the Lead Facilitator.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that Transition to Success Program Curriculum is delivered professionally and effectively to meet desired learning objectives.

  • Maintain classroom management within a class of approx. 15 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. 

  • Arrive punctually to school sites and expertly manage time during the course of the workshops to ensure that all aspects of the lesson plan are delivered. 

  • Relate to students about their personal aspirations, college and career options, and skills for success in school and life

  • Contribute feedback to other facilitators and Lead Facilitator.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Baseline Skills:

  • Have excellent communication skills.

  • Have patience. 

  • Have a good sense of humor.  

  • Have a strong sense of presence in a classroom setting. 

  • Be enthusiastic and objective. 

  • Have a passion for helping youth, especially those who are disengaged,

  • Understand the connection between education and a better life.

  • Skills to be Learned on the Job:  1) Participant Engagement 2) Curriculum Design Basics 3) Participant Surveys

Experience: 

Have classroom instruction experience, preferably working with students from low-income communities and students with disabilities.

Have a familiarity with the Metro Detroit area, schools, and students.

A background in college access and/or youth development programs a plus.  

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years experience in Training & Development or Curriculum Design & Instruction or Currently enrolled in postsecondary education: Junior or Senior status only majoring in Training & Development or Curriculum Design & Instruction.

SALARY

Wage: $15-$20/hour (Facilitators are paid for each hour of instruction as well as all OWS required training sessions).
